چکیده
Teleconnection patterns are an important feature influencing the variability of moisture transport. This study explores influence Arctic, Antarctic, Pacific-North American, and El Niño–Southern Oscillations on transport from major oceanic continental sources during peak precipitation month. The positive phase American teleconnection pattern increases Pacific Ocean western North America, while negative Atlantic over eastern with differences between phases higher than 1.5 mm·day−1 most area when preferred. Arctic Oscillation importance Mediterranean as a source for Europe contribution increased in more 2 Europe. Antarctic favours Indian basin Africa, southern is northwestern Africa. For Oscillation, main occurs South America Niño events, increasing contributions southeastern Brazil. events also increase America. In contrast, La Niña Central northern being latter observed.

Influence of atmospheric circulation patterns on dust transport during Harmattan Period in West Africa
This study has used TOMS AI as well as the reanalysis dataset of thirty-four years (1979-2012) to investigate the influence of atmospheric circulation on dust transport during the Harmattan period in West Africa, using Aerosol Index (AI) data, obtained from various satellite sensors. Changes in Inter-Tropical Discontinuity (ITD), Sea Surface Temperature (SST) over the Gulf of Guinea, and North ...

متن کاملInfluence of the Andes Mountains on South American moisture transport, convection, and precipitation
Mountain ranges are known to have a firstorder control on mid-latitude climate, but previous studies have shown that the Andes have little effect on the largescale circulation over South America. We use a limiteddomain general circulation model (RegCM3) to evaluate the effect of the Andes on regional-scale atmospheric dynamics and precipitation. We present experiments in which Andean heights ar...
متن کاملInfluence of teleconnection patterns on precipitation variability and on river flow regimes in the Miño River basin (NW Iberian Peninsula)
The influence of the most representative winter patterns of atmospheric variation in the Northern Hemisphere on precipitation variability and on river flow regimes was evaluated for the Miño River basin (NW Iberian Peninsula). The Arctic Oscillation (AO) was also considered in order to analyze the effect of a larger-scale atmospheric mode on precipitation and river flow. Precipitation data were...
